Called American Home Contractors to get an estimate for a replacement on a skylight. He re-caulked some of the joints that appeared to have weathered badly and did not charge us for anything. I very much appreciated his professionalism, and I will definitely be giving AHC a call when it is time to replace my roof. American Home Contractors did a phenomenal job with our Hardie board siding project. They provided a competitive quote, helped us review our design decisions, then handled a complex installation quickly and professionally. Before hiring a contractor in New Jersey, be sure to get at least 3 detailed bids.
They said that my approximately 15 year old roof was still in good shape. I was extremely pleased with Chris and Travis - they did not try to sell me something I didn't need and were very reasonable with the work they did. During the inspection process they discovered that the previous owner did a number of things that were structurally unsound when he build the addition himself. The cost to replace the entire roof wasn't too much more than repairing all of the structural mistakes from the previous owner, so we chose to replace the entire thing. Unfortunately all of this work didn't solve the leak. Jon did come back and make an effort to figure out what was causing the leak and thought he had figured out that the problem was with the siding, and told me he needed to send his siding crew. It was at this point that the busy season started for him, and he stopped responding to me and told me he was backed up and he couldn't send someone out for two weeks. Two weeks later I was told it would be another two week delay.
He took some pictures of my skyline and the overall condition. It was determined that the leaks were caused by damage shingles and roof cap, and that the skyline seals had cracked and in need to be repaired. He advised me to contact the roofing company, since my roof was new and still in warranty.
